Freedom are Finalists at the World Soccer Championships in Orlando, FL

The ASC Freedom competed at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex, in Orlando FL. on January 13th - 15th. The 3v3 competition started last summer in 50 states and Canada. The field of 500 U8 girls teams at the local level was narrowed down to approximately 150 teams that played at 8 various Regional Tournaments. After very competitive Regional play the field was again narrowed down to 34 teams who competed at the World Championship Tournament at Disney World.

Play started on Saturday 1/13 and by the end of Sunday 1/14 there were the "great eight" teams remaining and the ASC Freedom was part of those special few. Coach Adu stated, "Any of the remaining eight teams could make it to the championship game."

On the final day of play the ASC Freedom soundly beat one of the favorites to win the tournament, a team from Cinncinatti Ohio, then in a "final four" match the Freedom pulled out an overtime victory in dramatic fashion, beating the best Texas had to offer.

It had been an amazing journey playing the best teams from NY, NC, TX, MD, GA, OH, and TX. to get to the championship game. In the championship game the ASC Freedom lost 3-2 in a closely constested match. The team from Indiana was declared champions, and our ASC Freedom took second place in the 3v3 World Championship.

Congratulations Freedom girls!
